Цель работы - определение общих черт и различий в истории основания и расцвета двух столиц и их современного облика.
Задачи работы:
изучить историю основания и расцвета двух столиц: Москвы и Лондона;
ознакомиться с современным обликом двух столиц и их достопримечательностями;
составить сравнительные таблицы;
составить викторину «Что вы знаете о Москве и Лондоне?»
составить словарь лексики английского языка по теме «Страноведение»;
Объектом исследования стали история и современный облик Москвы и Лондона.
Предметом исследования стал сравнительный анализ достопримечательностей двух столиц.

London is the capital of England and the United Kingdom.

Population of Moscow is over 17 million people.
Population of London is about 12 million people.

Moscow like London has its own emblem and flag.

The Moskva River is 503 km long.
There are 49 bridges over the river.

The River Thames is 346 km long.
There are over 24 bridges
across the river.

The etymology of the river’s names is the same.
“ Thames” means "dark".
“ Moskva” means "dark".

Moscow was founded in 1147 by Yuri Dolgoruky. London was founded in AD 43 by the Romans.

The fire of Moscow in 1812.
The Great Fire of London in 1666.

The first Kremlin wall was built in 1156.

The Tower of London was built by William the Conqueror in 1078.

The Kremlin clock is over 600 years old .
Big Ben is over 150 years old .

It is the oldest and the longest in the world.
It was opened in 1863.

It has nearly 300km of track.
It has 180 stations.

TV towers in Moscow and London.
The Ostankino Tower was built in 1967.
It is 540 metres tall.
The British Telecom Tower was opened in 1965.
It is 189 metres tall.

Parks of Moscow and London.
There are 27 sq. meters of parks per person in Moscow.
There are 7.5 sq. meters of parks per person in London.

Conclusion.
1. London is more than one thousand years older than Moscow. However, nowadays both cities are global cities of the world.
2. The history of both cities is very similar. It was full of terrible and dramatic events. These both cities could manage to survive, recover and to become the greatest cities and capitals in the world.
3. Both Moscow and London have a diverse range of peoples, cultures and religions.
4. Moscow and London hold several world records.
5. Nowadays Moscow and London are major tourist destinations.
