Butterfly Day

A butterfly is an insect.
(dragonfly, ladybird UK / ladybug US, bug/ beetle, fly, wasp, grasshopper, ant, spider)

Its body is divided into three parts: head, thorax /ˈθɔː.ræks/ and abdomen /ˈæb.də.mən/.

Like all other insects, a butterfly has two feelers, called antennae /ænˈtɛn i/.

A butterfly cannot bite or chew. It sips water and nectar from flowers through a long sucking tube.

There are four stages in the life of a butterfly.

They are: the egg,

…the caterpillar,

…the resting stage (in a cocoon /kəˈkun/ ),

…and the adult stage – a beautiful butterfly.
