Mr Geens is set to make the confession about the failure to
arrest Abdeslam on Belgian TV this evening, according to respected Spanish newspaper El Mundo.
Reports claim Abdeslam was tracked down to the extremism hotbed Molenbeek district of Brussels on the Sunday night following the November 13 bomb and gun massacre.
Cops waited until after midday on Monday to raid his hideout - and by then he had scarpered.
El Mundo’s Brussels correspondent wrote: “According to the surprising admission of Belgian Justice Minister Koen Geens, Abdeslam was located the night of Sunday to Monday, but he wasn’t arrested because Belgian law prohibits police operations between 9pm and 5am."

Belgium’s Penal Code prevents raids, arrests and operations between 9pm and 5am except in cases of “flagrant crimes or fire,” the reports say.
It was not clear why police did not raid the house at 5am and waited until after midday.
Officers believed intelligence on the whereabouts of the terror suspect - possibly armed and feared to be planning a follow-up attack - was not sufficient reason and waited until they had a judicial warrant, it was claimed.
