Past simple and past continuous

We use the PAST CONTINUOUS:
- to describe and action in progress in the past.
- to describe two or more simultaneous actions.
- to describe an action that was in progress and was interrupted.
We use the PAST SIMPLE:
- to describe situations that finished in the past.
- to describe past habits.
- to describe one completed past action after another.
- to describe an action that interrupted an action in progress.
