St. Valentine’s Day

St. Valentine’s Day comes on February 14. It is widely celebrated among people of all ages. Valentine’s Day is a time when people in love express their feelings to those whom they love or adore. Some people give greeting cards, flowers, chocolates, perfumes or jewelry to their admirers or partners while others take their loved ones for a romantic dinner at a restaurant or even propose to get married.
History

The holiday is named after two among the numerous Early Christian martyrs named Valentine.
The name of this day

In UK in the 1700s, women wrote men’s names on scraps of paper, rolled each in a ball of clay, and dropped them into water. The first paper that surface supposedly had the name of the woman’s true love.
Tradition

The day is most closely associated with the mutual exchange of love notes in the form of "valentines." Modern Valentine symbols include the heart-shaped outline, doves, and the figure of the winged Cupid.
