There are thousands of dictionaries in the world, and each of them tells about words. Every English language learner has to use a dictionary almost daily.
From it, you can find out what meanings a particular word has and in which phrases it occurs, as well as study the examples of its use.
Monolingual (explanatory or English-English) dictionaries are presented at the exhibition.
They are necessary for every English language lover.

Advantages:
- you are learning the meaning of words, not the translation;

Monolingual English dictionary conveys the meaning of words much more accurately, it is not the Russian equivalent of the word that is remembered, but whole English phrases with different applications of the desired word.

The Concise Oxford English Dictionary
COED is probably the best-known of the “smaller” Oxford dictionaries. The edition of the Concise Oxford English Dictionary contains over 240,000 entries and 1,728 pages.
Its 12th edition, published in 2011, is used by both the United Nations (UN) and NATO as the current authority for spellings in documents written in English for international use.
In addition to providing information for general use, it documents local variations such as United States and United Kingdom usage.

DICTIONARY OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND CULTURE
This dictionary is designed to get to the heart of American and British English language and culture. It contains over 80,000 words and phrases, help with usage, and 15,000 special cultural entries.
All definitions are written in the 2000-word Longman

The Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English
The dictionary is available in various formats: 1) paper only;
2) paper with a bundled premium website;
3) online access only;
4) a gratis online version.

A picture dictionary (in American English) designed for ages five to seven.
