Baturyn. Capital of Ukraine

BATURYN
Situated in the north-east of Ukraine,
the former capital of Ukraine.

HISTORY
Founded in the early XVII century.
On November 2.1708 Moscow troops led by Alexander Menshikov captured Baturin, completely destroyed the defensive castle and the city itself. The victims were 6-7.5 thousand civilians and 5-6.5 thousand soldiers .
After 1760 Hetman Kyrylo Razumovsky, intended to return hetman capital status to Baturyn but didn’t succeed.
