The Euromaidan protests started in November 2013 when radical groups used weapons. On the eve of these actions then president Viktor Yanukovych refused to sign an association agreement with the European Union, describing it as disadvantageous to Ukraine.

People’s opinions about conflict.

The President’s representative in the Crimea, MP faction Sergei Kunitsyn IMPACT believes that Viktor Yanukovych can no longer be considered a legitimate president and must “go beautifully”.

Crimean referendum.
A referendum on the status of Crimea was held on March 16, 2014 by the legislature of Crimea as well as by the local government of Sevastopol, both subdivisions of Ukraine.
