Слайд 2Our acquaintance with England began with a port city called Portsmouth, in
the centre of which Portsmouth Language College was situated. We studied there for three weeks.
Слайд 4Having arrived to Portsmouth we were met by our host families. We
soon made good friends, as all of the members of the families were very talkative, caring and supportive ☺
Слайд 5Staying in Portsmouth we visited a lot of local places of interest.
One of the most famous sights is the Spinnaker Tower with a glass floored platform overlooking Portsmouth harbour.
Слайд 6One more thing Portsmouth is worthy to visit is a remarkable English
writer Charles Dickens’ birthplace museum.
Слайд 7There are also situated such historical warships as Victory, Warrior and Mary
Rose. Portsmouth Dockyard is one of three Military bases in the UK for the British Royal Navy.
Слайд 8
On the other side of the Solent Bay, which flows into the
Channel, Isle of Wight is situated. We visited the Osborn House built by Queen Victoria and her husband King Albert in the second half of the 19th century.
Слайд 10The next point was Southampton. Southampton is a seaport which is the
most famous as a place from which the biggest steamship Titanic went to its the first and the last trip. So we visited SeaCity museum.
Слайд 11One more beautiful English city in our list was Bath, in Somerset. Bath
is the best known for its Roman-built baths. We visited it with our international friends.
Слайд 138 miles north of Salisbury one of the most recognizable England’s places
is situated. Yes, we saw Stonehenge – the great prehistoric monument consisting of a circle of stone or wooden uprights.
Слайд 14But as you can suppose the most unforgettable time we spent in
the British capital.
Big Ban – the symbol of London.
Westminster Abbey - the traditional place of coronation for British monarchs.
Слайд 15Buckingham Palace - the London residence of the British queen.
