Lesson 1 Objectives
By the end of the lesson you should:
Get to know me and each other better
Know about the Student Code of Conduct i.e. how to behave and treat people around you in the academic community
Learn about the Academic misconduct, its types and what happens if you commit one

What should you do as a student and part of an academic community? What are your responsibilities?
What you must not do as a student and part of an academic community?
How is your behavior different from your behavior at school?

Student Code of Conduct
Students must hold themselves and each other to the highest standards of academic conduct
Academic misconduct not only reflects poorly on the student committing the act, it degrades the quality of the educational environment for all and calls the integrity of the University’s educational mission into question
Ongoing membership and participation in the AITU academic community is a privilege

Academic Misconduct Subject to Disciplinary Action
Academic misconduct includes:
Plagiarism
Cheating
Falsification of documents

Student Responsibilities
You must:
Respect your professors and teachers
Treat with respect your fellow students and any other member of the University community
Be fair and honest
Avoid at all costs committing the academic misconduct
Concentrate on your studies
You must not:
Endanger the health or safety of others
Disrupt University activities
Violate the Code of Student Conduct

What is a syllabus?
What do you think a syllabus should include?
How is syllabus important?

Scan the syllabus and answer the questions
What are the aim and the learning outcomes of the course?
How many assessed tasks are there? What are their weights?
What are the asynchronous tasks? How will they be assessed?
What if a student's attendance rate is less than 70%?

Scan the syllabus and answer the questions
What happens if a student does not meet an assignment deadline?
What if a student's grade for Midterm or End term is lower than 25 out of 100 %?
When and how it is acceptable to contact your instructor?
