Speculation with may and might
Use may and might + verb to show you aren’t sure about something. You’re guessing.
What do you think it is?
I’m not sure. It may be a new kind of iPad.
I don’t really know. It might be a handbag.

What do you think it does?
Who knows? Maybe it takes photos.
I’m not sure. It may be a video recorder.

Made of + material
Describe substances and materials used to make things with be + made of + material.
What is that plate made of? Is it glass or plastic?
What material is that jacket made of?
It’s made of wool.

Used for and used to
Use be+ used for in questions about the purpose or utility of something.
What’s that machine used for?
I don’t know what that stuff is used for. Do you?

Used for and used to
Describe a purpose or use with be + used + infinitive.
That machine is used to make chocolate chips for cookies.

And…
When you aren’t sure of a purpose, you can show you’re guessing by using may or might with used + infinitive.
That straw may be used to make baskets. (Maybe)
That liquid might be used to make soap. (I’m not sure)
