Born on March 3, 1968 in a family of physicists in
Yerevan. The future businessman started his studies at the regular Yerevan school No. 109. Since both of his parents have physics education, he knew firsthand what natural and exact Sciences are from childhood, and therefore, as he got older, he moved to the physics and mathematics school at Yerevan state University.
Until 1985, he lived in Yerevan, then went to Moscow to enter a University.

In 1989, as a fourth-year student, together with a part-time employee
of the Institute, a novice programmer Alexander Moskalev, they founded the company Bit Software. The business idea of young entrepreneurs was designed for a single application, and no one knew then that the project would grow into a large business. They planned to create about a hundred copies of the dictionary program and then sell them for 100 rubles per product unit. After that, the project had to be closed.

first year they managed to sell only fifteen copies. However, the development itself was so successful that the team did not just continue working together, but decided to create a text recognition program. In 1993, the first version of the program appeared — Fine Reader.
In 1995-1997, the program began to win over competitors not only in Russia, but also in America and Europe. In connection with the successful beginning was made the decision to enter the foreign market and the rebranding of the company. So, nine years later, In 1998, Bit Software was renamed and received the name ABBYY.

Today, the company has its own offices in ten countries, and the
software products that it produces are sold in more than 150 countries around the world. The most famous of the latter are the ABBYY FineReader text recognition system and ABBYY Lingvo electronic dictionaries. In 2012, more than twenty million of all scanners and multifunction devices in the world were equipped with the ABBYY FineReader system.
According to Forbes for 2019, its capital consists of shares in ABBYY, iiko and findo startup companies.
