History
First cockroach races are considered to take place in ancient Egypt,

Byzantium and Ancient Greece. The Russian official cockroach races began to hold after 1812. Only black cockroaches were used as a competitors.

Each of the participants takes his place on a track, which is

a kind of a tunnel closed on both sides . Organizers use the light to make animals run. The race starts as soon as the organizer turns on bright light above cockroaches. Insects try to hide and run to the opposite side of the track.

It is aloud to use the sticks, lights, straws or should loudly

to make insects run faster. The winner is the fastest (or smartest) cockroach. Usually the are 5 or 8 competitors in a one race, but can be more. The track course is usually about one and a half meters.

In Australia the competition is organized in another way. Referee draws a

circle on ground and put cockroaches in the centre and cover them with a glass. When the glass is moved out the insects start to run in different directions. A cockroach which crosses the line first is a champion.
