Dictogloss procedure
Read a short, dense text (twice) to the students at NORMAL speed
As it is being read, the students work individually to jot down familiar words and phrases (prominent words)
The students work in pairs to reconstruct a version of the text from their shared resources.
In larger groups students compare their versions of the text and negotiating changes. The students aim at grammatical accuracy and cohesion, but NOT at replicating the original text.
The students compare their version with the original.
The versions are analysed, the students refine their own texts.
