Samhain day itself (October 31), as well as three days before and after it. Description of Samhain has been found in Old Irish literature since the 10th century. After the spread of Christianity, the history of Halloween has changed. Of particular importance in this was the decision of Pope Gregory I. The head of the church in 601 AD instructed the missionaries not to fight pagan holidays, but to convert them into Christian ones.

Just four centuries after the adoption of Christianity by Ireland (two centuries after the adoption of All Saints' Day) at the turn of the 10th and 11th centuries, records appear indicating that there was a shift in the perception of Samhain towards a dark pagan holiday. it turned out to be associated with death. To this day, in the north of Scotland and Ireland, the tradition of conducting rituals aimed at pacifying the dead has been preserved. Also in this region it is customary to tell legends about ancestors on the night of October 31. In the old days, our ancestors also dressed in fancy dress, someone was a goat, someone a pig, the third imagined himself in the form of a horse.
This whole parade of silence was accompanied by musical accompaniment of balalaikas and button accordions. Nowadays, this holiday has returned to Russia, but under a different name, few people know what date Halloween is celebrated. The date of its holding falls on the night of October 31 to November 1 and is already perceived simply as an excuse for fun and interesting pastime with friends.

Весь этот ряженый парад имел музыкальное сопровождение из балалаек и баянов. В наши дни, этот праздник вернулся России обратно но уже под другим названием, немногие знают, какого числа отмечают Хэллоуин. Дата его проведения приходится на ночь с 31 октября на 1 ноября и воспринимается уже просто как повод для веселья и интересного времяпровождения с друзьями.
