Ivan is a Russian playwright – the only Russian among those five modern playwrights whose plays are most frequently staged.

What makes Ivan different from many other celebrated representatives of the modern Russian intelligentsia is his integral approach to the development of the world. He promotes adherence to spiritual and humanitarian values. He skillfully balances between encouraging active citizenship and keeping himself from being dragged into playing political games.
For a great number of thinking and active individuals Ivan symbolizes free thinking. He manages to engage in sincere and open dialogue between Russia and the rest of the world at the cultural level.
