Russian vs. English: SAME (=)

Aspiration
In English, [p], [t], [k] are aspirated at the beginning of words or stressed syllables (unless they are preceded by [s]), but in Russian they are not.
Compare: pie, take, kin but spy, stake, skin.
pot – пот ‘sweat’
tot - тот ‘that’
cot – кот ‘cat’
Release is a burst of air at the end of words. In English, a release is not obligatory for [p, t, k]. In Russian, the final release is obligatory.
Compare: cat, soup
