Imperative
We use the imperative to tell people what to do/not to do.
Бид “imperative”-ыг хүмүүст ямар нэг зүйлийг хий гэж /хүссэн/, эсвэл бүү хий /хориглосон/ гэж хэлэхэд хэрэглэнэ.

Example
Put a fence around any ponds in your garden.
Өөрийнхээ цэцэрлэг дэх цөөрмийн эргэн тойронд хашаа хий.

Usage: The imperative 1
We can use the imperative to give a direct order.
Бид imperative-ыг захиран тушаах үед хэрэглэнэ.

Example
Take that chewing gum out of your mouth.
Амнаасаа бохио ав!
Stand up straight. Номхон зогс !
Give me the details.
Тодорхой хэл !

The imperative 2
We can use the “imperative” to give instructions.
Бид “ imperative”-ыг заавар болон даалгавар өгөхөд ашиглана.

Example
Open your book. - Номоо нээ !
Take two tablets every evening. Өдөр болгон 2 таблеткийг уу !
Take a left and then a right.
Зүүн тийш эргэ, тэгээд баруун
тийш эргэ!

The imperative 3
We can use the “imperative” to make an invitation.
Бид “imperative”-ыг нааш нь дуудах, урих үед ашиглаж болно.

Example
Come in and sit down. Make yourself at home.
Нааш ир энд суу. Өөрийн гэр мэт бай.
Please start without me. I'll be there shortly.
Уучлаарай надгүй эхэлж бай. Би удахгүй очно.
Have a piece of this cake. It's delicious.
Зүсэм бялуу ав. Энэ амттай.

The imperative 4
We can use the “imperative” on signs and notices.
Бид “imperative”-ыг сануулах үед ашиглаж болно.

Example
Push.
Түлх.
Do not use.
Бүү хэрэглэ.
Insert one dollar.
1 доллар оруул.

The imperative 5
We can use the imperative to give friendly informal advice.
Бид imperative-ыг албан ёсны бус нөхөрсөг зөвлөгөө өгөхөд ашиглана.

Example
Speak to him. Tell him how you feel.
Have a quiet word with her about it.
Don't go. Stay at home and rest up. Get some sleep and recover.

The imperative 6
We can make the “imperative’ 'more polite' by adding 'do'.
Бид “imperative”-ыг маш эелдэгээр захирахад ашиглана.

Example
Do be quiet.
Чимээгүй байна уу.
Do come.
Нааш ирнэ үү.
Do sit down.
Сууна уу.
