The harbour porpoise is one of the six species of porpoises.

The harbour porpoises grow to 1.5m-2m. The females are heavier at about 76kg compared with males’ 61kg

The harbour porpoises live in coastal waters of the North Atlantic, the North Pacific and the Black sea

They eat small fish: herring and sprat

Harbour porpoises were traditionally hunted for food. Thousands of them were caught there until the 19th century. Dirty water, chemicals from the factories cause the death of the animals. The main threat to porpoises is static fishing techniques such as gill and tangle nets.
