The British Royal Family

Britain has a royal family.

The head of the royal family is Queen Elizabeth II.

She was born in 1926.

She became queen in 1952.

Young Princes Elizabeth married Prince Philip in 1947. Elizabeth was 21 and Philip was 26 years old.

The next year, in 1948, they had their first child, Prince Charles.

In 1950 they had a daughter. Her name is Princess Ann.

Later Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip had two more sons. Prince Andrew was born in 1960 and Prince Edward was born in 1964.

In 1981 Prince Charles married Princess Diana.

The next year, in 1982, they had their first child, Prince William

The second son, Prince Henry, was born
in 1984. His friends call him Harry.

Princess Diana died in a car accident near Paris in 1997.

William is a young man, but one day he is going to be King of England.
