The main actor, Dwayne Johnson, is a helicopter pilot for the Los Angeles Fire Department. The role of Emma is played by Carla Gugino, who was Dwayne Johnson's divorced wife in the film. Then scientists made great progress in research on predicting earthquakes.

A dangerous movement of land began in the San Andreas Fault. Then Los Angeles is destroyed by a powerful earthquake. Ray, having arrived by helicopter, manages to save Emma from the roof of a crumbling building.

An earthquake destroyed a large area, many people died. Dwayne received a call from Blake that she is stuck in a collapsed underground parking lot inside a car in San Francisco. Then the connection is interrupted. Blake is Dwayne and Emma's daughter. Blake is played by Alexander Daddario.

Duane and Emma travel to San Francisco. There they change the helicopter to a small plane. When they reach San Francisco, they notice that the entire city has been destroyed by a magnitude 9.6 earthquake. This causes a giant tsunami that floods the entire city. Several nearby cities were completely destroyed. Dwayne finds his daughter in one of the skyscrapers and saves her, so the whole family managed to escape.
