Environmental Pollution

People have always polluted their surroundings.
But until now pollution was not such a serious problem.
In past most people lived in rural areas and didn’t have
pollution-causing machines. But with the development of
crowded industrial cities the problem of pollution has become
more important. Using automobiles and other machines made
pollution steadily worse. Since the 1950’s people have become
alarmed with the danger of environmental pollution.

Air, water, and soil are necessary for existence of all living
things. But polluted air can cause illness, and even death.
Polluted water kills fish and other marine life. On polluted soil,
food products can’t be grown. In addition environmental
pollution spoils the natural beauty of our planet.

Pollution is a very complicated and serious problem. Automobiles are polluting the air but they provide fast transportation for the people. Plants and factories pollute the air and water but they provide jobs for people and produce necessary goods. Fertilizers and pesticides are important for growing crops but they pollute soil.

Thus, people would have to stop using many useful things if they
wanted to end pollution immediately. Most people don’t agree to do that.
But pollution can be reduced gradually. Scientists and engineers can find
the ways to reduce pollution from automobiles and factories. Government
can pass the laws that would make enterprises take measures for reducing
pollution. Individuals and groups of people can work together to
persuade enterprises to stop polluting environment.

All these problems mainly arise due to human careless
activities and gradually destroy our planet. If we look closely,
we’ll notice that not only one city is under danger, but the
majority of world population. Fortunately, there are many
ways to suspend these problems. If everybody starts caring
about the planet we live on, many environmental problems
can be solved.

For example, if we start recycling paper and cardboard, we can save lots of trees. If we start using public transport more than private cars, we can have
less air pollution. Local governments can also help to prevent some problems, if they forbid logging companies to destroy the forests, or stop factories from polluting water. The most important
thing is, of course, to start acting immediately,
otherwise we might have to face many global
disasters.

1)Люди всегда загрязняли окружающую среду. Но до последнего времени загрязнение не было такой серьезной проблемой. С 50-х годов прошлого столетия люди стали ощущать тревогу в связи с
опасностью загрязнения окружающей среды.
Воздух, вода и почва необходимы для существования всех живых существ.
Но загрязненный воздух может стать причиной болезни и даже смерти.
Загрязненная вода приводит к гибели рыб и других существ, обитающих в море. На загрязненной почве нельзя выращивать пищевые продукты.
Кроме того, загрязнение окружающей среды портит естественную красоту нашей планеты.

Загрязнение — это очень сложная и серьезная проблема. Автомобили
загрязняют воздух, но они служат для быстрого перемещения людей.
Заводы и фабрики загрязняют воздух и воду, но они обеспечивают рабочие
места для людей и позволяют производить необходимые товары. Удобрения и
пестициды необходимы для выращивания сельскохозяйственных культур, но они
загрязняют почву. Поэтому людям пришлось бы перестать использовать многие полезные вещи, если бы они захотели немедленно прекратить загрязнение окружающей среды. Однако большинство людей не согласятся на это. Но загрязнение можно уменьшить постепенно. Ученые и инженеры могут найти способы уменьшить загрязнение от автомобилей, заводов и фабрик. Правительство может издать законы, которые бы заставили предприятия принять меры по уменьшению загрязнения. Отдельные люди и группы людей могут сотрудничать в деле охраны окружающей среды.
2) Если присмотреться, то можно заметить, что не только один город в опасности,
но и большая часть населения мира. К счастью, есть много возможностей
приостановить эти проблемы. Если все начнут заботиться о планете, на которой
живут, многие экологические проблемы могут быть решены. Например, если мы начнём утилизировать бумагу и картон, мы спасём многие деревья. Если мы начнём использовать больше общественный транспорт, чем личные автомобили, у нас будет менее загрязнён воздух. Местное правительство может также помочь приостановить некоторые проблемы, если запретит лесозаготовительным предприятиям разрушать леса, или остановит заводы от загрязнения воды. Самое важное, конечно же, начать действовать сейчас, или нам придётся столкнуться со многими глобальными катастрофами.
